  • Located in southeastern Washington, part of the larger Columbia Valley AVA. T
  • Borders the Yakima Valley AVA on the north and the Columbia River on the south.
  • Elevations range from 200 feet above sea level in the south to 1,800 feet above sea level at the northern boundary.
  • Grapes planted in the south-facing slopes of the Horse Heaven Hills benefit from strong winds that arrive fom the west via the Columbia Gorge.
  • Home to the single largest wine making facility in Washington, the Columbia Crest Winery (2 million cases) owned by Chateau Ste. Michelle in Paterson.

  • The 2003 Syrah passionately expresses the terroir of our Destiny Ridge Estate Vineyard. Sourced from four distinct vineyard blocks and barrel aged for 18 months in both French and American Oak this estate syrah has an expressive bouquet of raspberries and dark fruit that is complemented with its bold perfume spice, hints of wet stone minerals, violets, earthy leather, smoked meats, vanilla, and refreshing mocha. Its initial lush fruit leads to a solid framework and richness to finish.

  • This big, daring wine was crafted using the historic French method of Co-fermenting using 7% whole cluster, whole stem Rousanne grapes (white Rhone) followed by blending 4% of aromatic white Viognier to this bold red, Sara-Lee clone of Syrah. The co-fermenting resulted in an enchantingly aromatic, balanced, yet bold wine. The lots were cold-soaked from 1 to 3 days.   • The intense dark purple color of the wine shows hints of floral and gamy aromas followed by flavors of dark berries, espresso and chocolate wrapped in a core of structured and well managed tannins. On release, this wine is quite tight and will require aggressive aeration to maximize its expression. From our experience, this wine will begin to show in late 2008 and continue to develop until 2012.

  • 90 point rating Wine & Spirits. 100% Syrah! Barrel-aged for 18 months in new French and Hungarian oak. On the nose, prounounced berry and musky game notes gracefully intertwine with aromas of sweet, smoky toast and char. The palate reveals rich blackberry fruit flavors marked by subtle and pleasing notes of anise and spicy black pepper. Approachable now but has the structure to benefit from aging.
